A Nice to Place to take a little Nap.... well not exactly

Next to roleplaying and hunting in Secondlife, I love finding games or mazes things like that to run around and enjoy. The other night I found  "Resting Place- The Koszmar Institute". This is the third one of these games I have done. I was actually a little heartbroken this year thinking I had missed out on it.  So I was sooo excited that it was still going on and will be open till November 18th.  I highly suggest checking this out before it is gone. The Creators have done an excellent job with the story and the world they created for it. It is a bit on the creepy side so if tebby bears and fluffy bunnies are more you thing, then you may want to pass on this. Although I will say it again. This is very well done and even if for a quick peek is worth a trip.

You start your Journey off in the waiting room of the Sleep Institute. They are nice enough to supply you with the proper clothes and a hospital badge and game hud.  As you make your way through remember to click on things as some may hold clues to the story as well as they are some prizes set out by the stores that are sponsoring the game.  You can also join the Pulse Gamer group for hints etc. but if you are like me and your groups are almost completely full,  you may not need it. I was able to do it all on my own.

This will take a few hours to complete. I won't go into any of the story here as I will leave it all a surprise for those who do try it out.  Here are just a few of my favorite scenes that I walked through while working to solve the mystery of the Koszmar Institute

As I talked about earlier as you are solving the mystery and puzzles through the sim you will find First Aid Kits and Needles. These all contain gifts from the sponsors. There were a few of them I liked such as some poses from Hopscotch however the rest were just alright. I enjoyed the story and the game far more than getting the gifts and this is coming from someone that does alot of  hunts. I hope you enjoy the game as much as I did and I can't wait till next year to see what the next story will be.

Boho Fair and Battery Park - New York City Art Walk

I headed over to check out the Boho Fair. I grabbed the little hunt gifts I found at most stores. They all were for sale for 1L. Afterwards I decided what better place to show off some of these looks then Battery Park in New York and check out the Art work along the walkway. I am an art junkie so any chance to take a look. The Battery Park sim is a very nice place to sit and relax.

Grimm's Shore Hunt

I love sim hopping during the holidays to see what people have come up with.  I found myself on Grimm's  Shore doing a small 5 prize hunt. The creator's of the sim did a wonderful job with the look  and even the clues that are giving as you find each prize. In trueHalloween fun the place was a little on the creepy side but I had a great time wandering around the sim.

While you are there take a lovely boat ride,  visit an old church and watch out for the zombies and other dead things that are lurking about this place.

I was having so much fun I invited my friend Tabbie over to come have a look. Unfortunately the Asylum was to much for her and although I managed to escape she was committed.

I did run across her later on but it was to late. I paid my respects in the church and quickly left.

Three witches offered to help me get in contact with her but I declined. As they seemed a bit busy with their own things.

I then found a Crystal Ball and tried to summon Tabbie on my own but I just don't think she got my message. I did talk to a very nice floating head.

I felt good when I decided to leave. I had tried everything I could to help out Tabbie.

The men in the white coats assured me that everything would be alright.

Some of the hunt prizes on Grimm Shore.
The Mesh Pumkin, foggy tree the Grave and the arrows that took out my heart
The Strait Jacket ( Mesh) was also free there.

The Autumn Festival and Acorn Hunt

Once again I was sim hopping this morning, getting myself in the Fall mood, when I ran across the Autumn Festival. I spent the better part of the morning looking at all the booths from stores like Gawk, Alice Project and LeeZu. ( there are many other there as well).  Then I notice an acorn on one of the vendor stall ( oh I am a click happy person usually can't help myself) and realize there is an  hunt going on. Of course if I had read the signs around I would have known that anyway. I did the hunt. It took about an hour ( not to mention that I was still looking over the merchandise there) and being on a nice sim just made it that more enjoyable.

After walking around the Festival and finishing up the hunt I ran home and tried out all the goodies I had found. So I decided to take a few pictures  and found some other neat places to run around in.
I looked for a Fall forest and found Alirium. It is gorgeous.

The dress was the hunt gift from Flame Fashion. This is a really nice mesh dress and perfect for an Autumn Stroll in the woods or run if you happened to be chased but I guess that all depends on where you are roleplaying at.

Fall is Here

One of my favorite times of year, its not to hot not to cold. The leaves on the tree turning and even talk of Halloween has come up. October is great month in sl for hunts and places to just visit. The other night I decided to hop around and just see what some people had done. The first place I found was a Haunted CornField  Maze. I love puzzles and games like that. I have been searching second life for another "Devil's Labryinth". This was a castle maze that was interactive and long.. we would go in as groups and the trick was staying together as tping within the castle was not allowed.  You could go through it several times and never see the same thing and yes to complete the maze it took hours but as I said it was always fun. Anyway I ran across a Haunted Cornfield Maze so I figured I would give it a try.

They had a small hunt going on within the maze and I couldn't resist so I followed the clues and ended up with the grand prize. Almost everything in the maze was interactive. Here are a few  pictures I took while exploring and hunting.

You do have to be careful though when you are walking through the maze there are several things that prove to be  deadly.

And of course I did it on my own so when I did get in trouble I had no help. You are hunting for a small candy  corn or will have to do something to gain the one of the hunt prizes ( there is a total of 15 items to find)

The Grand Prize is a Nimbus Flying Broom. Once you pick it up there is a teleport to an obstacle course  you can fly around  in.

I lost my life that night....

Roleplay

I found secondlife on a recommendation of a friend that had read about it in Newsweek. I had wanted to see what a virtual world was like after watching one of the many crime/murder mystery shows on tv. In the show a person is murder and the detectives, csi members or whoever  had to search through their online virtual world to find the killer.  Seeing glimpses of the virtual seemed liked fun to me. So here I am five years later and still spending a part of most everyday in secondlife.
It took about a month for me once I joined to run across my first two roleplay sims. One was a  roleplay sim and the other was a DCS meter sim. I ended up spending more time in the meter sim where Typing the word "smile" or "Ave" passed off as good roleplay.  I had gone down to the other sim were the post were paragraphs, very descriptive but being new to the whole thing I was to intimidated to even attempt to play. It wasn't till I met Blaise and she pulled me away from the meter sim do I feel I learned to roleplay. It wasn't an overnight thing but I learned the basic rules and how to be descriptive. Neither sim are still on secondlife both closed down about a year ago however both had their merits and helped cause my addiction to this virtual world.
I suppose I should get to the point of this blog entry. I wanted to share my current roleplay home.
My character Lexie Ellwyn resides in  little town called Ravenhurst.  Ravenhurst is a small  rural  town hidden on a small island off the coast of  Washington State. To the outside world this is nothing but a qaint little town however looks can be deceiving. Those that take a closer look they will find supernaturals there. Vampires, Wolves, Witches Fae oh and yes there is a small human population.
There are many sims out there that have these supernatural races but there are some unique qualities to this sim which the others sims out there don't have. The first is that Ravenhurst has what we call the "Veil". The "veil" means that the races protect their true identities from the outside world. You won't find winged fae, large talking wolf avs or vampires walking around trying to bite everything in sight. In fact to openly reveal themselves to the human population could lead to death. I personally think this idea is awesome. I mean if we were to find out about supernaturals existing I really doubt we would be welcoming  them and wanting to leave in peace and harmony. My thoughts it would be a blood bath.  I have been on to many sims where a person sees a werewolf in its snarling monster form, then sits down to have a romantic moment or a beer with the wolf.
The second quality I love about this sim is  that there is no uber vampire.. uber werewolf.. etc.. all the races have their own ablities  however none of them allow a player to be god-like.  I have been to places where over half the population is so powerful no matter what you do they can't be stopped (That goes in hand with alot of powergaming and godmoding as well). We also play in daytime and nighttime settings.. and yes daylight will kill a vamp, we don't have any that will sparkle.
That is just two unique qualities about Ravenhurst, but there are many more. The Roleplayers and storylines are great. It's free form and mostly para-roleplay so the quality is high. .The Owners of the Ravenhurst are Sho Flanagan, Tabbie Blackthorne and Taibah Takahe. I think they have done a wonderful job with the sim.  Don't hesistate to come on by for a visit.

So on to  the photos..

I have started off on my table. This is in the skymall above the roleplay area and yes you may find me standing on it quite often. Why? you ask.. Just because. Myself and other members of the inspired team like to  meet new people as they come to the sim and welcome them, help them get started, or  even just answer some questions.
We have a great Inspired team currently on sim. All very friendly and will help answer any questions you may have. As well as get you started into roleplay. If you don't see us in the skymall our names are in the notecards so just send us an im.

The Town of Ravenhurst
There is hiking, fishing, swimming and camping  ( caution there are wild animals in the woods)as well as many things to do within the town limit such as the arcade, the local tavern, coffee shop and library if you care to do a little research on things. Come visit the Ellwyn's Estoric shop for you candle, herbs and tea needs.

Even though the nightlife in most small towns can be dull, Ravenhurst is one of those exceptions. You never know who or what you will find wondering around after dark. The Ravenhurst Police Department is on call to help you out if you run into any trouble.

And yes there is something for everyone....

Not So Long Ago

I just reformatted my computer and have been set to task of putting all my pictures back onto it.  I have been in sl now almost 5 years now. My first av came into world in Dec. 2007. It was a slow start as I didn't stay on help island for more than five minutes as I plunged into the world with  a friend that never logged on after that day. I then began the learning process. It took me over a month to figure out how to use search and how to use /me. What I did find however were people out there willing to help me get started and I thank them for that.
I didn't discover that I loved taking sl pictures till almost the end of my second year in sl so I have very few of my first year. I kick myself as most of the sims I was on I don't have pictures of.  I did manage to find some of my oldest photos. When I compare the avs from then to the ones we have today, I am simply amazed how much we have changed.

This is one of the only pictures of my first av before I bought a skin and shape. All I can say is  thank goodness for Freebie Beach.
This is me with an old friend in sl and my av when with a bought shape and skin.

Here is my first Picture of Lexie

This is Lexie now.

One of the biggest changes in Secondlife since I have joined is all the free items a person can get to put together a beautiful av. Hunts, group gifts make it all possible for all players to make there avs nice without spending money. Blogs like Fabfree, Dancing in the Square, and Magic Sl are just a few of the blogs that will help any player old and new make a great av.
