I found secondlife on a recommendation of a friend that had read about it in Newsweek. I had wanted to see what a virtual world was like after watching one of the many crime/murder mystery shows on tv. In the show a person is murder and the detectives, csi members or whoever had to search through their online virtual world to find the killer. Seeing glimpses of the virtual seemed liked fun to me. So here I am five years later and still spending a part of most everyday in secondlife.
It took about a month for me once I joined to run across my first two roleplay sims. One was a roleplay sim and the other was a DCS meter sim. I ended up spending more time in the meter sim where Typing the word "smile" or "Ave" passed off as good roleplay. I had gone down to the other sim were the post were paragraphs, very descriptive but being new to the whole thing I was to intimidated to even attempt to play. It wasn't till I met Blaise and she pulled me away from the meter sim do I feel I learned to roleplay. It wasn't an overnight thing but I learned the basic rules and how to be descriptive. Neither sim are still on secondlife both closed down about a year ago however both had their merits and helped cause my addiction to this virtual world.
I suppose I should get to the point of this blog entry. I wanted to share my current roleplay home.
My character Lexie Ellwyn resides in little town called Ravenhurst. Ravenhurst is a small rural town hidden on a small island off the coast of Washington State. To the outside world this is nothing but a qaint little town however looks can be deceiving. Those that take a closer look they will find supernaturals there. Vampires, Wolves, Witches Fae oh and yes there is a small human population.
There are many sims out there that have these supernatural races but there are some unique qualities to this sim which the others sims out there don't have. The first is that Ravenhurst has what we call the "Veil". The "veil" means that the races protect their true identities from the outside world. You won't find winged fae, large talking wolf avs or vampires walking around trying to bite everything in sight. In fact to openly reveal themselves to the human population could lead to death. I personally think this idea is awesome. I mean if we were to find out about supernaturals existing I really doubt we would be welcoming them and wanting to leave in peace and harmony. My thoughts it would be a blood bath. I have been on to many sims where a person sees a werewolf in its snarling monster form, then sits down to have a romantic moment or a beer with the wolf.
The second quality I love about this sim is that there is no uber vampire.. uber werewolf.. etc.. all the races have their own ablities however none of them allow a player to be god-like. I have been to places where over half the population is so powerful no matter what you do they can't be stopped (That goes in hand with alot of powergaming and godmoding as well). We also play in daytime and nighttime settings.. and yes daylight will kill a vamp, we don't have any that will sparkle.
That is just two unique qualities about Ravenhurst, but there are many more. The Roleplayers and storylines are great. It's free form and mostly para-roleplay so the quality is high. .The Owners of the Ravenhurst are Sho Flanagan, Tabbie Blackthorne and Taibah Takahe. I think they have done a wonderful job with the sim. Don't hesistate to come on by for a visit.

So on to the photos..
I have started off on my table. This is in the skymall above the roleplay area and yes you may find me standing on it quite often. Why? you ask.. Just because. Myself and other members of the inspired team like to meet new people as they come to the sim and welcome them, help them get started, or even just answer some questions.
We have a great Inspired team currently on sim. All very friendly and will help answer any questions you may have. As well as get you started into roleplay. If you don't see us in the skymall our names are in the notecards so just send us an im.
The Witches
The Wolves
The Vampires
And every now and then are faithful Sheriff channels Batman and then becomes a peeping tom.. you just never know.

The Town of Ravenhurst
There is hiking, fishing, swimming and camping ( caution there are wild animals in the woods)as well as many things to do within the town limit such as the arcade, the local tavern, coffee shop and library if you care to do a little research on things. Come visit the Ellwyn's Estoric shop for you candle, herbs and tea needs.
Even though the nightlife in most small towns can be dull, Ravenhurst is one of those exceptions. You never know who or what you will find wondering around after dark. The Ravenhurst Police Department is on call to help you out if you run into any trouble.
And yes there is something for everyone....
