Isle of Pandateria

One of my oldest friends in secondlife, Ocean, came to me a few months ago with idea for her new sim and asked if I would come play.  She knew I loved Ancient World Roleplay and  I fell in love with the concept right away. The story begins just after the exile and death of Julia The Elder the daughter of Augustus.

Welcome to the Isle of Pandateria, the year is 37AD and it is the first year of Emperor's Caligula's  reign.

The story for this sim is unique as it doesn't take place in a major city in the ancient world. The story is set on  a small island a few hours away from Italy. The exiles of Rome were sent to the island of  Pandateria for their crimes against the Empire. If they were lucky they would be allowed to live in the village and try to survive on their own. Others were locked away in the prison dependent on others to feed them.
You arrive on the island by ship and what happens from there.... is where your story begins.

The conditions on the island were harsh and unforgiving. You have a choice of playing an exiled Roman Citzens, Roman Guard or a Pirate.  One  must find a job and food to survive which leads to great character stories.

The Prison on the island not only serves as a place for criminals but a reminder to all those on the island that we are all prisoners here is some way and a place you don't want to go to.

Pandateria to me is one of the best well designed sims out there. Jeio and Ocean out did themselves when they put the sim together. The landscapes and buildings are very picturesque. In my opinion is one of the base looking roleplay sims I have ever seen in secondlife.

The marketplace, Lupa, Prisons, caves, and outskirts of town lends to great roleplay and story opportunities. The sim is adult and adults themes run throughout the sim.

Pandateria is a metered sim. I typically will skip over a sim that uses a meter however I have made the exception for Pandateria. Although  you can fight on the meter you do not have to. You can choose to roleplay fight or meter fight as well as have the option to use a dice if need be. The meter will also allow you to work and earn in-character coins. (not linden only roleplay money). There is a cost for the meter and weapons but don't let that deter you from experiencing some of the best roleplayers in secondlife. At least in my opinion they are.

This is a para-roleplay sim and I have enjoyed every scene I have done. The level of roleplay here is outstanding and if you are into good storyline, character development and ancient world this is definitely a sim to check out.  As for my character Luciana.......

Her story is just starting and so far she has been able to avoid being locked in the prison. She has met the Aedile who is rumored to be a nice guy but ...

She dreams of the day she will be taking back to her home in Rome. Her father will forgive her and she will be able to help restore her family back to the position it once held.

For now she will continue to watch for that ship that may one day save her.

That is if the Gods allow her to survive.

The Search for a New Roleplay Home

I roleplayed in Ravenhurst for two and half years when it finally shut it doors there was a good amount of sadness. I loved my character and the story that had been created with some of the best roleplayers in secondlife and I a proud to call those players my friends. I was able to make my last post on the sim and give a bit of conclusion for my character.  The best thing for me that came of Ravenhurst was my roleplay family. We all have them. A group of people that we just click with ooc and ic and of course we wanted to continue to roleplay together. So,  we all spread out looking, listening to the roleplay gossip to find the one sim we would be all be happy in.

Sounds easy .. not quite.

To find a setting, a time period and a story line we ALL agreed.. that was a challenge in itself. would it be possible to find a sim that we could transfer our characters to and keep the same abilities? Is there a story set in the same time period? and yes the last question " Who is there? "  We all ask it and have our reason for doing it.  The problem was we couldn't find the one that fit everything we wanted. Sure there are good roleplay sims out there but even starting new characters we just couldn't agree.

We decided to try Babylon but it wasn't for everyone. I did have a good time but it was short lived after a turn over of owners within a few weeks the sim closed. I was a bit bummed as I had started to get a story going.

So the hunt continued leading to things like this Ron Jeremy and Where's Waldo? in a dungeon.  Waldo kept getting lost and Ron well I am not going to say what he was doing.

Real Life also interupted taking a few members of my little family away for sometime so I was left again on my own. Being on my own I can certainly find trouble. The good kind of course and I stared hopping from sim to sim based on there description. I do take the time to read the rules and the back story.

My preference in roleplay is para-roleplay but I do know that is not for everyone. As a roleplayer I have learned to be diverse and willing to roleplay with everyone at least once. So when I am looking for roleplay that is usually what I am looking for, however I came across an adult capture sim called Never Never Land.

It is basically an adult version of Peter Pan. There are pirates and lost boys all grown up and of course Wendy's girl. Make sure when you stop by to read the backstory and just have fun. The sim itself is beautiful and while it may not be all para roleplay if you go in with an open mind you can have some fun.

At the beginning there is a free meter to wear and the game begins. At least once a week they have an All out War. You can fight or just watch. From what I have scene the players there are very friendly and fun.

Madpea's Lost Inca Warrior hunt

Summer has come and of course many players are off on vacations or enjoy some outside time. At least I hope so we all need a bit of fresh air every now and then. As for myself I have been in and out of secondlife with trips and household projects.  Therefore I got behind on my blogging.  That being said I still wanted to give a thank you and praise to MadPea for their  Lost Inca Warrior Hunt. I had such a fun time doing it.  I have done the  Madpea Hunts before. You buy the hud  at the start but I have never been disappointed.  I love the game but the prizes you get at the end are worth the cost.  I will be starting their new hunt The Return of Room 326 that runs from July 3rd to August 31st very soon.  The hunts are interactive and have great prizes from great stores. Here are a few pictures I took while doing the Lost Treasure Hunt.

As you made your way through the sim there  you had to beware of man-eating plants, crocodiles, lava rocks and Inca Gods that were looking to kill you.  The hunt took a few days to do. The puzzles were challenging. It is a hunt to take a friend along with. I started this hunt at the very end and had only about three days to finish it which meant I had to rush at the end. Members of the group and organizers were very helpful   when I got stuck and allowed me to finish in town.

At the very end I battled rock monsters and stopped the gods. To retrieve my gifts I had to open tombs that contained a little more than just the gifts. I highly recommend these hunts. Take your time and make a roleplay out of it or just do the hunt.
